It is the first time for Wuhan Marathon Swimming to open its applications toward the public and select participants by drawing lots through online registration. In 10-kilometer competitive swimming, beside over 40 excellent Chinese swimmers including An Jiabao, Wang Yunze, Dong Fuwei and Hou Yawen, there are 10 world’s top swimmers from Germany, Russia, Belarus, Moldova and others. In addition, among those amateur swimmers registered online, seven of them are selected by the strict examination of the Marathon Swimming Committee to compete with the professional swimmers.

The 2-kilometer health swimming consists of team and individual programs. There are 67 teams and 32 of them are selected to participate the competition by draw. At the same time, the registrations in individual programs seems like more competitive and popular. With only 100 out of 1,500 applicants qualified for the competition, with a winning rate of 1/15. In addition to competitors from 24 Chinese provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions, many overseas swimmers have signed up for the 2-kilometer challenge.
