A South African Teacher Gets Chinese driver’s license in Deyang, Sichuan

“I can finally drive in Deyang of China.”“Deyang police are very good.” Recently, Exit-Entry Management Brigade of Deyang public security bureau Jingyang district branch bureau received a letter of thanks, Julian Mc Sweeney, a teacher from Zhimeng kindergarten expressed his sincere thanks to the polices.

Julian Mc Sweeney is from South Africa. He was hired to work in Zhimeng Kindergarten in Deyang form September, 2018. Because his place of residence is far from the workplace, and he spent lots of time on the way to work and after work every day, which brings troubles to his life and work, he caught an idea that bought a motorcycle. Due to cultural differences, Julian Mc Sweeney knew nothing about China's request for a driver's license, and the purchase of motorcycles had to be temporarily stranded.

At the beginning of May 2019, the police of the Exit-Entry Management Brigade of Deyang public security bureau Jingyang district branch bureau learned about the difficulties of Julian Mc Sweeney during a large-scale visit to foreign workers in the district. They immediately contacted the Traffic Police Brigade of Jingyang District to learn about what Julian Mc Sweeney needs if he wants to apply for the management of the car (driving) in China. Subsequently, the Immigration Management Brigade promptly informed Julian Mc Sweeney about the situation and assisted Julian Mc Sweeney in finding a driving school, signing up, and taking the test. On May 27th, after a rigorous assessment, the traffic control department issued a motorcycle driver's license to Julian Mc Sweeney.
