On August 19th, the first Sound Museum of Sichuan Tibetan region was set up in Dexi Village, Gaocheng Town, Litang County, Ganzi Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture. In Himalayan Sounds Museum, which is only 180 square meters in size, it preserves Tibetan traditional musical instruments, Tibetan music audio and video materials, and valuable Tibetan music scores.
The instruments collected in this Sound Museum came from Litang and Lhasa. These instruments are made of materials such as brass and animal bones. They are exquisitely carved and reflect Tibetan customs.
The museum also collects precious Tibetan music scores. Tibetan music scores record the images of the sound in the form of curves, and then assisted by oral communication. For now, it’s hard to see this ancient traditional score.
Du Dong, the person in charge of the museum project, said that Sound Museum used "sound" to preserve the precious cultural memory of Tibetan nationality. He also hoped that the "sound" would let the distant Tibetans hear the call of their hometown.
