In the context of the development of the new era, finance is the core competitiveness for a country and a region, and the financial center has become the core carrier for promoting financial reform and development. Chengdu, positioned as a national central city, is the capital of Sichuan Province, a sub-provincial city, the dual-city economic circle of the Chengdu-Chongqing region, and the core city of the Chengdu metropolitan circle.
Over the past few years, Chengdu has achieved fruitful results in economic construction. It has successively won honors including world's best emerging business city, China's inland investment environment benchmark city, the national small and micro enterprise dual innovation demonstration base, one of the top ten comprehensive strengths of China's cities, and one of the top ten entrepreneurial cities in China.
In 2020, Chengdu achieved a GDP of CNY 1771.6 billion, ranking 7th among Chinese cities. From January to June 2021, Chengdu achieved a regional GDP of CNY 960.272 billion, a year-on-year increase of 13.1%, and delivered a brilliant economic report card.
Currently, Chengdu is focusing on using financial technology as a breakthrough point to accelerate the construction of a new financial industry ecosystem. In the next step, Chengdu will make full use of major historical opportunities such as the construction of the Chengdu-Chongqing double-city economic circle and the construction of the Chengdu metropolitan circle, strengthen exchanges and cooperation with Chongqing in the financial field, and strive to promote Chengdu's comprehensive financial competitiveness to a new level.
