The 14th Meeting of the Conference of the Contracting Parties to the Convention on Wetlands was launched in Wuhan, China on November 5 and will be closed on November 13. As a famous ecological area with high-quality wetland resources, Jiangxia District will continue to strengthen ecological protection and restoration, making ecological success a great pillar for the district's high-quality development.
There are 36 rivers put into the category of "municipal level and above" and 22 lakes in Jiangxia District. The total protected water area is 368 square kilometers, accounting for about 45% of the total lake area of Wuhan.
Among the five wetland nature reserves and six national wetland parks in Wuhan, three are located in Jiangxia, namely Anshan National Wetland Park, Canglong Island National Wetland Park and Shangshe Lake Wetland Nature Reserve. The district's wetland covers an area of 45,800 hectares, ranking first in Wuhan.

Anshan National Wetland Park spans 4.1 kilometers from north to south. It is a wetland combining shallow freshwater lakes and swamps. The park is located in the East Asia-Australia Flyway and is an important wintering ground for waterbirds in the Asia-Pacific region.

Canglong Island National Wetland Park has a total area of 311.75 hectares, including 256.68 hectares of water area and 55.07 hectares of land area. The wetland coverage rate is about 82.4 percent. It is a typical shallow freshwater lake wetland in the suburbs of the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River.

Shangshe Lake Wetland Nature Reserve is located in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River and on the south bank of the main stream of the Yangtze River. It is a typical wetland with freshwater lakes and flooded swamps.
