A fine honey tangerine is the work of land, water, and time. Nestled in the embrace of the Xuefeng Mountains, the unique climate and soil nurture a National Geographical Indication product — the Xuefeng Honey Tangerine.
Dongkou County, known as the "Hometown of Xuefeng Honey Tangerines," has a total planting area of 216,000 mu (approximately 14,400 hectares), with an annual output exceeding 150,000 tons and an annual output value surpassing 1 billion yuan. In recent years, through continuous efforts to improve varieties and promote green, high-yield, and efficient cultivation practices, the county has upgraded 36,700 mu of orchards, raising the marketable fruit rate from 65% to 80%. Moreover, through various forms of processing and value-added production, this sweet industry has truly enriched the lives of local people.
Honey tangerines are a fruit of prosperity for the people of Dongkou, and they also carry the hope of connecting rural communities to the wider world. Today, 14 export enterprises in Dongkou County have forged international trade partnerships. This year, the county has signed trade contracts for more than 80 tons of honey tangerines with overseas buyers from Russia, Malaysia, and other countries.
