Zhejiang Tonglu 'Embroiders' a New Prospect for Its Tourism Sector through 'Micro-Renovation and Refinement' Campaign

In 2021, Tonglu County was listed as the pilot county of Zhejiang Province for the "micro-renovation and refinement" campaign, with a total of 352 "micro-renovation and refinement" projects being applied. As of now, the total planned investment of this year for the "micro-renovation and refinement" campaign of Tonglu County has reached CNY 1.447 billion and the actual amount that has been invested has reached CNY 704 million, with an investment completion rate of 51.54 percent.   

In accordance with the requirements set forth in the Five-Year Action Plan of Zhejiang Province for the "Micro-Renovation and Refinement" of the Tourism Sector, Tonglu County has stood firm in not adopting the approach of mass demolition and construction. Instead, it has turned to a work philosophy of putting people first, facilitating the tourism sector of the region through the renovation of specific locations, showcasing the beauty of the region through some trivial aspects and empowering the tourism sector with culture, with the view to refine its "embroidery" techniques for the "micro-innovation and refinement" of the tourism sector, and to promote the high-quality development of holistic tourism.

With regard to the renovation of specific locations, Tonglu County is making gradual efforts to newly build a group of cultural tourism landmarks. An immersive "landscape theatre" has been blended into the Yanzilin Fishing Platform, and waste materials have been reused to stage a plastic art exhibition named "world of wood forest" in the Yaolin Fairyland. In addition, the phase Ⅰ of the renovation project for Tongjun Mountain has been finished.         

Since "beauty" has always been its core resource, Tonglu County has organically combined the "micro-renovation and refinement" of the tourism sector with the governance of urban and rural landscape, the building of beautiful rivers and lakes and other aspects. The crop fields have been connected to form a picturesque scenery and the villages have been connected to present a beautiful painting. Thanks to these efforts, a new beautiful pattern characterized by "the leading role of one scenery display window, the construction of two demonstration zones for beautiful countryside, the building of nine touring routes filled with beautiful countryside scenery, the showcasing of the distinctive features of over 100 villages, and the region-wide beauty" has taken shape, and the potential for high-quality development has been constantly unleashed.

In addition to connecting the scattered scenic spots into a scenery belt, Tonglu County released a touring route themed "Memories of the Southern Shore·Dwelling and Touring in the Fuchun Mountains" to provide the "Tonglu solution" for tourists to appreciate the beauty of the place depicted in the painting named "Dwelling in the Fuchun Mountains" in an all-round manner.

With culture as the core, tourism as the carrier and common prosperity as the goal, Tonglu County will continue to refine its "embroidery" techniques and push forward the further refinement and high-quality development of the tourism sector. As the mountain range with peaks rising one upon another looks like a painting and the winding mountains resemble a screen, a more elegant and charming place than what is depicted in "Dwelling in the Fuchun Mountains" is worth your expectation.
