Croatian Counselor Bisera Fabrio Anticipates China and Croatia Can Explore More Channels for Cultural Exchanges

On February 27, Bisera Fabrio, the Counselor of the Embassy of the Republic of Croatia in China attended the Charming Beijing TV Series Overseas Communication Achievements Exhibition and the 2023 Launch Ceremony of Charming Beijing TV Series and delivered a keynote speech on-site. According to Bisera Fabrio, the TV series project is of great importance for facilitating cultural exchanges between China and Croatia and she also hoped that the path for exchanges could be expanded continuously.

During the event, Bisera Fabrio passionately shared her experience of supporting the exchanges between China and Croatia when she was a journalist in the past, "I really hope to share some of my experiences with you. I worked as a journalist for 20 years before I served in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Croatia. I was the one who tried to introduce China to Croatia where people were so eager to know more about China—a beautiful country that I still remember those questions they raised and the interesting stories they shared with me. Besides, I can recall my visit to the Palace Museum in Beijing when I came to China for the first time. Then, I shared all my experiences with readers in Croatia."

In Bisera Fabrio's opinion, face-to-face exchanges carried out by the TV series are a significant bond for promoting people-to-people exchanges between China and Croatia. There are many things for the two countries to share, exhibit, and learn from each other. Therefore, she expressed her hopes on-site that there could be more channels for mutual exchanges like the project. The Embassy of the Republic of Croatia is always ready to support cultural exchanges between the two sides. She also noted that she looked forward to seeing progress made in the cultural exchanges between China and Croatia through the TV series project and the efforts made by far-sighted people who devote themselves to boosting cultural exchanges between the two countries.

The production and overseas publicity of Charming Beijing TV series, carried out by the Information Office of the People's Government of Beijing Municipality and CRI Online of China Media Group is an innovative project aiming to encourage cultural exchanges between China and foreign countries. Since its first launch in 2019, the TV series project has invited production teams from ten countries such as Laos, Thailand, Cambodia, and Myanmar to carry out interviews and video shooting in Beijing. In 2022, the episode Beijing’s Landscapes produced by Chinese and Croatian teams was broadcast on mainstream media platforms in both Croatia and Montenegro and gained popularity among local audiences. With a focus on mountains, waters, and local people in Beijing, the episode consists of three chapters, namely "Imperial Life of Ancient Beijing in Imperial Gardens", "Dynamic Culture of the Grand Canal", and "Hutong: Vitality of Daily Life".
