The first step in the development of Jinan's Emerging Area is to break through the Yellow River barrier and accelerate the integration of both sides of the river using cross-river passages, creating the momentum for "a new beginning with bridges and tunnels." Let's take a look at the roads in the emerging area. The Longhu Interchange has been completed, the G309 Emerging Area section has been renovated and upgraded, and it has opened the passage from the Huanggang Road Tunnel to the north towards the urban sub-center. To accommodate the north-south traffic from the New Yellow River Bridge, the plan includes the construction of the northern extension of the Second Ring Road East and Quehua East Road, creating a direct path to the Emerging Area's urban sub-center core.

The plan also involves the construction of the western extension of Fenghuang North Road, ensuring efficient connectivity between the Fenghuang Yellow River Bridge and the Cuizai and Daqiao districts. Once these routes are completed, the western, central, and eastern directions in the main urban area on the south bank of the Yellow River will have seamless connections to the Emerging Area on the north bank, further facilitating north-south travel between the Emerging Area and the main urban area. With the support of a series of achievements in Jinan city and the Emerging Area's land-use spatial planning, along with the strong advancement of space integration in the Dabridge Street, the planning and construction of the urban sub-center demonstration area have shifted from the preliminary planning and strategy stage to the development and construction stage.
With bridges in place and roads widened, the efficient flow of elements between the two banks of the Yellow River has been greatly enhanced. It's worth noting that construction work is accelerating for four ongoing passages, including the Qilu Bridge, Huanggang Road Tunnel, G104 Jinglan Expressway's Jinan Yellow River Highway Bridge, and the G308 Jibin High-Speed Railway Bridge, which are expected to be completed and open to traffic in the coming years. Additionally, construction plans are underway for the Aerospace Avenue Tunnel this year. As these bridge and tunnel projects progress, they will further expand the network of Yellow River crossings, improve the transportation accessibility across the Yellow River, accelerate the integration and development of the new city in the north with the central urban area, and effectively support the Emerging Area's goal to shape itself within five years, gain momentum within ten years, and become a fully-fledged city within fifteen years. In the future, Jinan's Yellow River crossing infrastructure density will be on par with other river-development cities like Nanjing, Hangzhou, Shanghai, significantly propelling Jinan into the "Yellow River Era" from the "Daming Lake Era."
