Hangzhou Tonglu Hengcun Town Seizes the Opportunity to Create a 'Mountain Flower Economy'

On the morning of March 30, the 14th Hangzhou Tonglu Mountain Flower Festival kicked off, attracting numerous visitors to this floral celebration.

It is reported that during the festival's opening ceremony, consumption coupons worth CNY 18,000 have been issued. These coupons can be redeemed at the "Tonglu Flavor" rural specialty market nestled amidst the flower sea for local agricultural products, including HangZhou White Chrysanthemum from Yuan Village and the secret sauce from Dongnan Village. Additionally, the trailwalk route on the same day, which links Yangshanfan Style Square, Peach Blossom Valley, Shuangxi Village, Langjialing Reservoir, and Dongnan Village, provided an excellent opportunity to appreciate the blooming mountain flowers and enjoy the springtime delights.

For Hengcun Town, the "Mountain Flower Festival+" is more than just a celebration – it's about an integrated development of cultural, agricultural, and sports tourism. In the eyes of peach farmers in Yangshanfan, the festive atmosphere signifies a bountiful peach harvest and serves as a driving force for upgrading the peach industry. Yangshanfan has been cultivating peach trees for over 150 years. Through continuous breeding efforts, its honey peaches now boast dozens of varieties, including "Xinchuan Zhongdao" and "Chiyue." These varieties have extended the peach supply window from late May to the end of August.

"In recent years, Hengcun Town has continuously pushed ahead with its cultural and tourism development plan by organizing various cultural and tourism festivals and enhancing its service system, initially nurturing distinctive rural tourism brands. Last year, the town's visitor arrivals increased by 18.9 percent year-on-year, and tourism revenue grew by 15.1 percent year-on-year," said Zhou Chenlai, Vice Chairman of the People's Congress of Hengcun Town. He also added, looking ahead, the town would implement the overall development pattern of "one core, two axes, four parks, and multiple corridors." It will coordinate the integration of industry and urban development, promote regional development, and fully leverage mountain flowers for scenic beauty, industries as the backbone, and cultural tourism for enrichment, to create a "model town for quality industries and shared prosperity."
