The "Colourful World - Creative Youth" China-Europe Cultural Exchange Event, co-hosted by the CMG European and Latin American Languages Programming Center (hereinafter referred to as the "Center") and the Information Office of Beijing Municipality, was launched in Shougang Park, one of the two exhibition venues of this year's China International Fair for Trade in Services on September 13.
The event featured a special screening of highlights from the "When Tai Chi Meets Symphony" China-Europe Youth Creative Festival, a convergence media campaign jointly launched by the Center in conjunction with several other Chinese and European organizations. Leveraging Tai Chi and symphony, two typical elements of the Chinese and European cultures, the campaign is centered around topics of common concern to the young generations in China and Europe, such as sports, music, and environmental protection, and integrates generative artificial intelligence, which is currently a popular technological means, and trendy usages of social media platforms, to inspire young people to create their own works. Since its launch in May this year, the content of the campaign has racked up more than 130 million views on overseas social media platforms.
Phoebe Haines, a British singer, sang "Ode to the Pear Blossom" with Wang Zhaoyi, a singer of Beijing Dance Drama & Opera.
Tymur Melnyk, an Austrian musician, teamed up with Liu Wen, a Chinese violinist to present "Schön Rosmarin" and "I Love You, China", famous pieces from two countries.
Gao Chongyan, a National Wushu Champion in Tai Chi Sword of China, presented "The Rhythm of Harmony" with other performers.
Chinese artists and their colleagues from abroad delivered wonderful performances and shared ideas with other guests on how to promote greater cultural exchanges between China and the rest of the world. The event posed great opportunities for visitors to feel the infinite charm of the fine Chinese and European cultures, and participate in the exchange and mutual learning among civilizations.
