Foreign Guests Marvel at Gourd Carving Technique in Licheng District, Jinan

       Recently, a group of foreign guests participated in a cultural experience activity in Licheng District, Jinan, and visited Duantiao village to gain an in-depth understanding of the unique gourd carving art and experience the charm of this intangible cultural heritage craft.

　　Duantiao village, an ancient settlement rich in historical charm, is the place where the gourd carving technique has been passed down for generations. In the village’s gourd carving studio, the foreign guests witnessed the production process firsthand. The inheritors provided detailed introductions about its historical origins, artistic features, and gourd carving process, allowing them to gain a deeper understanding of this traditional craft.

　　The various gourd carving works represent the wisdom and effort of the creator, showcasing the unique charm of gourd carving. Under the guidance of the inheritors, the foreign guests also learned to create gourd carving works themselves. They picked up brushes, carefully outlined lines, and filled in colors on the smooth surface of the gourds, experiencing the entire process from conceptual design to completion. Although encountering many challenges, everyone immersed themselves in the experience, enjoying the joy of creation.

　　Through the event, they gained a deeper understanding of the charm and connotation of Chinese traditional culture, as well as a greater respect for the wisdom and skills of Chinese craftsmen.
