Dali County in Weinan, Shaanxi Province, is located in the eastern part of the Weibei Plain in central Shaanxi. It boasts a rich history, deep cultural roots, and a charming environment filled with abundant resources. The Yellow River, Weihe River, and Luohe River flow through the region, infusing the landscape with infinite energy and vitality. Following the goal of boosting local areas with agriculture, Dali County has focused on the growth of key pillar industries to promote rural revitalization in recent years, forging a unique path toward green development.
How does a small county in northwest China seize development opportunities to foster a high-quality local economy? What allows Dali winter jujubes to flourish in saline-alkali soil? How can they be delivered to other regions, served at the dining table of the Asian Games, and reach global markets? What distinguishes Qinqiang Opera from Tongzhou Bangzi Opera? To seek answers to these questions, Hameg Abdelhamid from Algeria and Jumamyradova Gulshirin from Turkmenistan visited Dali County in Weinan, Shaanxi. They explored scenic areas and historical sites to catch the charm of ancient culture. Dressed in traditional opera costumes, they experienced the rich tradition of Chinese opera. Additionally, they wandered through cities and villages to immerse themselves in the authentic and vibrant local life.
In Dali County, they uncovered driving forces behind China's remarkable growth. (Text by Wu Mingling)
