"It’s crucial to be meticulous during the special inspection, particularly with lines that cross over houses and sheds. Meanwhile, it is important to ensure that the safety clearance is adequate and that any surrounding debris has been cleared to prevent line faults," Chen Sheng, an operation and maintenance staff member from the State Grid Nanyang Power Supply Company, recently reminded the inspection personnel.

The inspection personnel utilized drones and binoculars to conduct a comprehensive inspection and monitoring of the 35 kV Caiwang line and its surrounding area to identify any foreign objects. This allowed them to assess the operational status of the transmission line and equipment, as well as detect potential safety hazards.

In response to the recent sharp drop in temperature and frequent occurrences of smog, fog, and rainy weather, the State Grid Nanyang Power Supply Company promptly initiated a warning response. This involved intensifying 24-hour power grid load monitoring, implementing disaster prevention measures, and increasing the frequency of inspections on critical lines. Meanwhile, the response measures also included conducting meticulous inspections on lines with large spans between poles and towers, those located in wind corridor, and the lines prone to conductor galloping.

The State Grid Nanyang Power Supply Company has leveraged past inspection experiences to proactively develop ice removal plans for relevant lines. They have intensified inspection frequencies at locations prone to icing and utilized drones equipped with infrared imaging devices to check for wear on fittings, ensuring real-time monitoring of icing conditions and trends.

As of now, the State Grid Nanyang Power Supply Company has conducted inspections and temperature checks on 15 lines, removed 4 foreign objects and hidden dangers, and distributed over 300 pieces of promotional materials. In the next step, the company will continue to analyze potential safety hazards and risks to ensure the safe and stable operation of the power grid.
