Xinyu, China: Innovative Power Grid Upgrades Achieve "Zero Interruption" Power Supply

Recently, the Urban Power Supply Center of State Grid Xinyu Power Supply Company successfully replaced the outdated pole-mounted switches on the 10kV Zhanqian West Line III Branch No.45 serving the agricultural products market. Utilizing innovative technologies, the operation achieved “zero perception” of power interruption for customers during maintenance, earning widespread acclaim.

To guarantee uninterrupted power supply during maintenance, State Grid Xinyu Power Supply Company implemented a "double guarantee" solution combining live-line work with synchronized medium-voltage (MV) generator connection. Crews performed live operations on the 10kV overhead line while the MV generator vehicle precisely synchronized with the grid, seamlessly transferring the branch circuit’s entire load to temporary generation. While the generator guaranteed the temporary power supply, the line operators closely monitored changes in various parameters and simultaneously and efficiently completed a series of switch replacement tasks such as tightening wires, releasing wires, and replacing bolts, ensuring that the operation did not conflict with the power supply guarantee.

This renovation and upgrade covered residents and businesses in two transformer areas. Throughout the entire construction process, customers’ normal electricity consumption was not disrupted at all, and daily life, production, and business operations continued as usual.
