With the arrival of autumn, small animals become more active, posing a threat to the safe and stable operations of substation equipment. State Grid Quzhou Power Supply Company has focused on seasonal prevention priorities and, in conjunction with the power supply guarantee work for the “Double Festivals” of National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival, identified “preventing small animals from entering” as one of the key tasks in the autumn inspection, and systematically arranged this special inspection.
In Kaihua County, substation operation and maintenance staff carried out special inspection and management work to prevent small animals from entering at 15 substations. This initiative is an important part of the autumn safety inspection and also marks the comprehensive and orderly advancement of the autumn inspection work, providing a solid guarantee for the transition from peak summer power supply to high-load power demand in autumn.
This inspection and management work was well-organized, focused on key areas, and closely integrated with the overall arrangement of the autumn inspection. Operation and maintenance personnel conducted a detailed inspection of potential entry channels for small animals at each substation, item by item. For hazard points where sealing materials were aged, damaged, or missing, professional flame-retardant materials were immediately used for repair and enhanced sealing, ensuring that all sealed points were secure, durable, and up to standard. A total of more than 20 sealing-related hazards were inspected and addressed during this initiative.
Taking this as an opportunity, the company has simultaneously advanced a number of key measures for the autumn inspection: strengthening equipment patrol and maintenance by increasing the frequency of special patrols and night patrols, and comprehensively using online monitoring, infrared thermography, and other methods to improve the ability to perceive the status of equipment; highlighting hazard inspection and management by focusing on important equipment such as relay protection devices, circuit breakers, and disconnectors, and fully implementing seasonal anti-accident measures such as lightning protection, moisture protection, and anti-freezing; enhancing on-site safety management and control by strictly implementing standardized operating procedures to effectively ensure the quality and safety of the autumn inspection work. At the same time, the company also made a detailed special inspection ledger to record the sealing status of each substation, achieving closed-loop management of hazards and long-term prevention and control, and laying a solid foundation for the autumn inspection work.
