On November 16, the “September 27” Lusheng Festival theme event was held in Gulong Town, Huangping County, Qiandongnan Prefecture, Guizhou Province.

At 1:00 PM that day, ethnic minority residents from Huangping and neighboring counties, dressed in festive attire, held a grand intangible cultural heritage parade, officially marking the beginning of this year’s Lusheng Festival.

The opening ceremony in the afternoon and the “Intangible Cultural Heritage Night” performance in the evening immersed the audience in a vibrant cultural feast of ethnic minority traditions.

This year’s event featured a thousand-person long-table banquet, intangible cultural heritage parades, Lusheng competitions, singing and dancing contests, chess competitions, and a photography exhibition and competition.

The Gulong “September 27” Lusheng Festival is a traditional celebration in Huangping County. It was listed in the second batch of the provincial-level intangible cultural heritage list of Guizhou in 2007 and has been held annually from the 27th to the 29th day of the ninth lunar month in Gulong Town, Huangping County.

With a long history and large scale, the festival attracts local residents in festive attire, villagers from surrounding towns, tourists, relatives, and friends who gather to enjoy the festivities and visit one another. Together, they celebrate the Lusheng Festival, praying for favorable weather and a bountiful harvest in the coming year.
