Joel recalled that one day he was amazed when he saw photos of Shenyang online, in which the city appeared bustling and vibrant, and it was this unique charm that drew him to come here.
In his seven years in Shenyang, Joel has witnessed the rapid development of the city's infrastructure. The increasingly widespread smart grid makes life more convenient, and the school dormitory is well-equipped with facilities. Overall, he believes that Shenyang is very friendly to international students. He is deeply impressed by the high livability of this city, with easily accessible public transportation, including buses and subways, making travel both convenient and affordable.
In Joel's mind, what struck him most about Shenyang were the friendly people. When he first arrived and couldn't speak Chinese, he was at a loss when ordering food in a restaurant. However, the warm-hearted Shenyangers came to help and quickly understood what he needed. At that moment, he was deeply overwhelmed by their warm kindness. To overcome the language barrier, he took a Mandarin training course and met his friend Zhao Tie. Zhao Tie introduced him to various delicacies in Northeastern China, ranging from restaurants to street food vendors, and thus he gradually fell in love with Chinese cuisine.
