On February 14, State Grid Gansu Electric Power Co., Ltd. revealed that the province's electricity consumption in the past year totaled 174.632 TWh, a year-on-year increase of 6.18 percent. Electric power consumption serves as a barometer of economic development, and this increase indicates that Gansu is experiencing stable economic growth with good momentum.

From an industrial perspective, Gansu maintained positive growth in all three industries in 2024. The electricity consumption of the primary industry registered 1.884 TWh, increasing by 6.05 percent year-on-year: the secondary industry reached 128.396 TWh, up 6.34 percent: and the tertiary industry recorded 29.682 TWh, up 5.70 percent. The residential consumption reported 14.671 TWh, up 5.78 percent.
From a regional perspective, all the 12 regions of the province showed positive growth in total electricity consumption. Among them, the growth rates of seven cities and prefectures were higher than the provincial average of 6.18 percent, including Lanzhou New Area, Jiuquan, Longnan, Zhangye, Gannan, Linxia and Wuwei.

In 2024, Gansu's regional GDP reached CNY 1.3 trillion with a year-on-year rise of 5.8 percent. The growth rate ranked third in China and maintained a firm hold in the first echelon. Such new economic progress should be partly attributed to the efforts of State Grid Gansu, with its local investment in Gansu exceeding CNY 20 billion for the first time, and an industrial output of CNY 73.679 billion. It has effectively supported the province's top ranking economic growth rate by continuously deepening the services of "triple zeros" (zero visit to power company, zero review and approval, and zero investment for designated users) and "triple savings" (labor-, time- and cost-saving), and introducing 14 measures to cut down electricity costs for key enterprises. The company has helped market players reduce electricity costs by over CNY 3 billion, and its "Power E Financial Service" has enabled upstream and downstream entities to obtain CNY 7.4 billion in inclusive financial instruments. Above all, State Grid Gansu has been awarded as an outstanding contributor to the stable industrial economic growth of Gansu for three consecutive years. (Text by Wang Xinyue & Zhang Lingzhi)
