The Gansu-Zhejiang Transmission Project starts from Gansu Province and ends in Zhejiang Province, with a total length of approximately 2,370 kilometers. Once completed and put into operation, it is expected to transmit over 36 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity to Zhejiang every year, with more than 50 percent coming from new energy sources.

According to an official from the State Grid Gansu Electric Power Company, the sending end of the Gansu-Zhejiang Transmission Project in Gansu will connect to the large wind and solar base in Gansu's desert and Gobi areas, with a total installed capacity of 15.2 million kilowatts, including 4 million kilowatts from coal power and 11.2 million kilowatts from new energy. It will effectively promote the development and utilization of clean energy in Gansu, known as a 'wind and solar powerhouse,' and significantly enhance the capacity for new energy consumption in the Northwest region.

The construction of UHV external delivery channels and related supporting projects is the main channel for accelerating the delivery and consumption of new energy electricity. Currently, Gansu has built one UHV external delivery channel and has two UHV transmission projects under construction: the Gansu-Shandong Transmission Project and Gansu-Zhejiang Transmission Project. Among them, the Gansu-Shandong transmission project has entered the equipment acceptance and commissioning stage, and is about to go into operation.

At present, Gansu has a total of 175 infrastructure projects for the 35 kV and above power grid under construction, with a total line length exceeding 10,000 kilometers and a conversion capacity of 8 million kilowatts. The UHV and supporting projects have entered a phase of 'large-scale, high-intensity, and high-quality' development. Once completed, they will further enhance Gansu's backbone power grid, characterized by its 'hub, clean, and external delivery' functions. (Text/Photo by Jia Yifan and Han Tiantian)
