State Grid Wuhan Power Supply Company Ensures Reliable Power for the 2025 Wuhan Marathon

The 2025 Wuhan Marathon kicked off on March 23rd, set against the backdrop of blooming cherry blossoms. State Grid Wuhan Power Supply Company fulfilled its commitment to powering the event, providing professional support and attentive service, ensuring a robust power network. This ensured a reliable electricity supply for the race’s 40,000 participants and its global broadcast.

Since February, State Grid Wuhan Power Supply Company has conducted three rounds of inspections along the Wuhan Marathon route, inspecting 10kV distribution lines, switch stations, and ring main units in three key areas to eliminate potential safety hazards. For critical locations such as the starting zone and the Yangtze River Bridge broadcast point, the company implemented an innovative three-layer protection model featuring “dual power sources” supplemented by an “emergency generator truck.”

In the early hours of the 23rd, around 5:00 AM, the final preparations were completed by the company's Jiang'an team. This involved meticulously checking the cable connections for the CCTV broadcast vehicle and the generator powering the official race timing system—not just once, but three times. Meanwhile, the Qingshan Power Supply Center of State Grid Wuhan Power Supply Company focused on securing the power supply for the finish line area in Happy Valley. They deployed high-capacity generators in a dual active backup configuration and managed three dedicated 10kV lines with a "one plan per line" approach. The finish line medical station was equipped with an uninterruptible power supply (UPS), and the team maintained real-time communication with the event command center to ensure a flawless power supply during the crucial final stage of the race.

This marks the ninth consecutive year that State Grid Wuhan Power Supply has supported the Wuhan Marathon. Over this time, they have developed a standardized approach, creating a customized plan for each event. This dependable energy support plays a vital role in supporting Wuhan's goal of becoming a premier international sports city.
