On April 3, renowned writer Wang Guoyi donated over 3,000 copies of his book Selected Essays of Wang Guoyi to Hangzhou’s Xixi National Wetland Park. The collection features more than ten of Wang’s essays written over the years. Among them, Dreaming of Xixi offers a detailed depiction of the past and present of Xixi Wetland and was awarded second prize in the first National Essay Competition. This generous donation not only reflects the author’s deep affection for his hometown but also underscores his dedication to preserving and promoting the culture of Xixi Wetland.

In an interview, Wang Guoyi shared his inspiration behind writing Dreaming of Xixi: “As a native of Hangzhou, I feel a strong sense of responsibility to contribute to this city.” After multiple in-depth field visits and research, he completed the book with the hope of helping more people discover and fall in love with Xixi.

Speaking about the donation, Wang expressed, “I hope my writing can help the younger generation better understand the cultural value of Xixi and inspire them to create more outstanding literary works.”

Liu Xiang, Deputy Director of the Ecological and Cultural Research Center of Xixi National Wetland Park, expressed sincere gratitude for Wang Guoyi’s donation. “We are deeply thankful to writers like Mr. Wang for providing us with such valuable literary resources,” Liu said. Liu also noted that the park will make use of these books by promoting them through WeChat public accounts and other social media platforms to further showcase the unique charm of Xixi and encourage more young people to engage in its cultural preservation.

In addition, to support more artists and students in their creative endeavors, Xixi Wetland will offer assistance such as free admission to the park.
