The 2025 Guiyang Baiyun International Kite Festival recently wrapped up successfully. This three-day kite extravaganza brought together teams from seven countries—including South Korea, Hungary, Switzerland, and Ukraine—as well as 27 teams from across China. A total of 136 athletes competed in 17 official events.

During the festival, Baiyun District transformed into a fantastical kite kingdom, radiating joy and excitement. Performances by sport kite teams provided a dazzling visual feast, as athletes showcased exceptional skills and seamless teamwork, guiding their kites through elegant aerial routines that drew rounds of applause and cheers from spectators.

Since receiving the title of "Hometown of Kite Flying in Western China" in 2002, the Baiyun District Kite Festival has become an important platform for showcasing Guiyang’s city image.

This year's festival was full of highlights. The 330,000-square-meter open field served as a grand stage for athletes to demonstrate their talents. To enhance the visitor experience, Baiyun District thoughtfully organized more than 20 engaging activities, blending sports, cultural experiences, and urban tourism into an immersive and comprehensive celebration.

The successful hosting of the kite festival not only provided visitors with a memorable visual experience but also injected strong momentum into Baiyun District’s economic development.

During the festival, Baiyun District welcomed approximately 163,000 visitors—a year-on-year increase of 25.8%—generating a total tourism revenue of 61.03 million yuan. At the same time, service industries such as accommodation, dining, and retail experienced significant growth, with a 27.4% year-on-year increase.
