Wuxi Power Grid on High Alert to Safeguard Power Supply Against Typhoon "CO-MAY"

On July 29, in response to the potential threat of Typhoon "CO-MAY" (the eighth typhoon of the year), State Grid Wuxi Power Supply Company activated its typhoon emergency response plan, with contingency measures already in place and personnel and resources mobilized in advance.

At the underground distribution station in Wuxi’s Yulan Garden residential community, power supply staff are intensively inspecting key facilities such as intelligent flood monitoring devices and drainage pumps. Sandbags have been placed at critical entrances to prevent rainwater intrusion. Since July, the company has carried out comprehensive inspections of 1,311 underground distribution stations across the city and promptly addressed 529 flood-related risks.

To systematically strengthen the grid’s disaster prevention capabilities, the company utilizes a smart "One Map" platform for grid management. This allows staff to visually monitor the location, type, and remediation status of each risk on a digital map, significantly improving efficiency. In July alone, more than 74,000 tree-related hazards near power lines were addressed, and emergency power interfaces were installed at 42 water conservancy and flood control facilities. These measures have significantly enhanced the grid’s resilience to extreme weather and improved power supply reliability for critical users.

State Grid Wuxi Power Supply Company has deployed over 60 specialized emergency repair teams, consisting of more than 300 personnel, and equipped with over 100 repair vehicles. The company will continue to closely monitor the typhoon’s developments, strictly enforce a 24-hour duty system, strengthen equipment monitoring and inspections, ensure thorough implementation of all protective measures, and fully safeguard the city’s electric power "lifeline."
