When the soft resilience of Xiangyunsha silk meets the sophisticated engineering of smart cars, when the rich aroma of coffee beans mingles with the path of autonomous driving, and when the lively bounce of tennis balls echoes the pulse of technological innovation — Guangzhou's Nansha district is painting a vibrant global portrait in the early winter of 2025. Through the international communication campaign "China Travel·Roam China," Nansha showcases a dynamic scene where tradition blends with modernity, and culture coexists with technology.

"China Travel·Roam China" International Communication Campaign Arrives in Nansha

Content creators from across the globe – including international hosts, influencers and Gen Z youth from Germany, France, Russia, Nigeria, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Vietnam – gathered in Nansha. They explored its intangible cultural heritage (ICH) industrial parks, global coffee supply chains, and intelligent connected vehicle exhibition halls, experienced autonomous vehicles and international tennis venues. Through foreign perspectives, multilingual storytelling, and immersive experiences, they decoded the unique appeal of this "core of future development" in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

Intangible Cultural Heritage: Xiangyunsha silk

At the Yunsha Xingyun ICH Cultural Park, international guests witnessed firsthand the creation of Xiangyunsha silk. From dyeing with gallnut juice to catalyzing with river mud, from sun-drying to weaving on looms, this craft renowned as "soft gold" represents not just a textile, but an oriental wisdom of "harmony between humanity and nature."

"The making of Xiangyunsha silk is not about conquering nature, but working with it," reflected Russian host Viant after experiencing the drying process. "This perfectly aligns with the globally advocated concept of sustainable development." French youth Mathieu marveled at the handlooms: "I had no idea China preserved such precious handcraft traditions alongside its advanced manufacturing."

At the GAC Science and Technology Museum, streamlined architectural and low-carbon materials outline the vision of a "city of smart vehicles." International guests witnessed Chinese automobiles' evolution from "Made in China" to "Intelligently Created in China" – through pure electric platforms, ultra-fast charging batteries, Xingling architecture, and the ADiGO intelligent driving systems. Technology here transforms from abstract concepts into tangible futures.

"This car doesn't even need a steering wheel — everything responds to voice commands!" exclaimed French influencer Mathieu after trying an intelligent connected concept car. Russian influencer Viant observed from a global standpoint: "Chinese vehicles offer not just quality, but also value. Similar configurations come at lower prices without compromising on standards compared to European or American brands."

The innovation journey continued inside Pony.ai's autonomous vehicles, where Nigerian host Lao Bai captured the smooth ride on his phone, exclaiming, "This is the future of travel!" Bangladeshi youth Zhang Hao transitioned from initial apprehension to complete reassurance, noting that "autonomous driving adheres to traffic rules more consistently than human drivers". Vietnamese influencer Nguyen Thi Thanh Thanh expressed hope for "deeper technological collaboration between Vietnam and China in this field."

From GAC's philosophy of "Technology Defines GAC" to Pony.ai's seamless "One-Click Departure" system, Nansha is constructing a technological bridge that seamlessly connects innovation with daily life, demonstrating Chinese-style modernization in motion—a vision being realized on wheels.

At the Juntai Tennis Center, international guests swung rackets and engaged in exchanges, immersing themselves in the atmosphere of WTA and ATP-level tournaments. Pakistani host Fan Zan praised the "world-class facilities," while Vietnamese influencer Xiao Qing was deeply impressed by the "dense schedule of international events." Tennis has become a vivid emblem of Nansha's international character and youthful energy.

Here, tradition and modernity join hands, culture and technology merge, and local identity converses with global perspectives. Nansha represents not just the "Nansha Practice" of Chinese-style modernization, but also the "Nansha Answer" for the Greater Bay Area’s global engagement. As one foreign influencer said: "Here, you can touch China's past while witnessing the world's future." (Text by Fu Ximing, Photos by Huang Shi)
