December 22 — At noon, the banks of Heming Lake at Wuhan Business University, located in central China, were bustling with activity as a unique competition for the “Fish King” began. Sixty students, divided into batches and groups, rolled up their sleeves and worked together, catching more than 2,500 jin (approximately 1,250 kg) of fresh fish, including Wuchang bream, silver carp, and grass carp. The “Fish King” weighed 28.4 jin (14.2 kg).
The fishing activity was part of the university’s “Heming Lake Fishing and Fish Feast” event. The freshly caught fish were promptly delivered to the university’s North and South dining halls, where cafeteria chefs prepared a variety of dishes, including fish balls, braised fish, and clear fish soup. All dishes were offered free of charge for faculty and students to enjoy.
