Xiaogan, Hubei: Power Support Secures Smart Agriculture and the Spring Festival Food Supply

With the Spring Festival approaching, the festive atmosphere is growing stronger across Hubei. In the cold chain area of the Jiufeng Smart Agriculture Industrial Park in Xiaochang County, Xiaogan City, Hubei Province, three staff members from State Grid Xiaochang County Power Supply Company conducted a comprehensive screening of greenhouse power supply equipment, building a solid electrical defense line for the New Year's "vegetable basket."

Since the planning and construction of the Jiufeng Smart Agriculture Industrial Park began in 2023, State Grid Xiaochang County Power Supply Company has reduced the enterprise’s initial investment costs in an all-round way—from coordinating power consumption planning and streamlining the application process to optimizing power supply solutions tailored to local conditions. Professional services have supported every step of the project, from launch to operation. In particular, regularly conducted comprehensive inspections have screened for potential hazards in the park's 10 kV lines, five sets of distribution equipment, and key intelligent devices such as irrigation, temperature control, and supplemental lighting inside the greenhouses. These efforts ensure a stable 24-hour power supply to safeguard the growth of fruits and vegetables. "Smart greenhouses rely entirely on electricity for support. Even a slight voltage fluctuation could affect the growth of our produce. With your regular inspections, we feel much more reassured," Wang Duanying, head of the vegetable base, told the power supply personnel during their inspection.

Smart agriculture relies on technology, and technology depends on electricity. Stable and reliable power supply has enabled local agriculture to break free from "weather‑dependent"  farming and enter a new era of "technology‑driven income growth."
