Recently, the first exhibition of “Changhe Zhui Ri · Yi Xin Xiang Dang — Jin Wenyi’s ‘Yellow River Ten Thousand Li’ National Touring Exhibition” was held at the Contemporary China Calligraphy Art Museum in Wuhai, Inner Mongolia. The exhibition showcases the 188-meter-long scroll “Yellow River Ten Thousand Li” and related works, created by Wuhai-born painter Jin Wenyi over seven years, presenting a panoramic view of the natural scenery and cultural landscapes of the Mother River from its source to its estuary.
In this grand scroll, the artist employs traditional Chinese painting techniques known as “five brushstrokes and seven ink tones” to depict the magnificent natural landscapes of the Yellow River Basin. With more than 50,000 words of annotations, the work describes the basin’s historical changes, political and economic development, cultural geography, and folk traditions, enhancing the scroll’s visual appeal, readability, and depth of thought.
