LZU and UniSQ Jointly Build a New China-Australia Education Platform

A high-level delegation from the University of Southern Queensland (UniSQ), led by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and Research) and the Pro Vice-Chancellor (International), recently visited Lanzhou University (LZU). Leadership from both institutions engaged in productive dialogue regarding student recruitment, talent development, and the future of joint research collaborations.

During the visit, LZU leadership extended a warm welcome to the delegation, noting that the urgency of global challenges—such as climate change and food security—demands closer and more effective research networks between universities. Over the past decade, LZU and UniSQ have fostered deep mutual trust through consistent academic and research exchanges. This foundation recently culminated in the official approval of a joint undergraduate program in Biopharmaceuticals, marking a new stage of institutionalized and high-quality partnership development.

LZU representatives expressed a keen interest in further expanding this broader and more multidimensional cooperation, focusing on three key areas: first, platform co-construction: establishing China-Australia joint research centers to serve as high-level hubs for innovation in cutting-edge fields; second, joint talent development: creating seamless academic pathways from undergraduate to doctoral levels to build a multi-tiered training system; third, faculty and student exchanges: developing permanent mechanisms for the two-way interaction of faculty and students to ensure the partnership remains a long-term driver of academic excellence.

UniSQ representatives spoke highly of the collaborative milestones achieved thus far, reaffirming their commitment to the strategic partnership and the sustainable, high-quality development of joint programs. They expressed a desire to broaden cooperation across interdisciplinary fields—ranging from talent exchange and laboratory equipment sharing to joint research—to gradually build a diverse collaboration ecosystem characterized by deep integration and multi-dimensional synergy.
