Since July, sustained high temperatures have driven Gansu's renewable energy generation and outbound power transmission to record highs. Data shows that in July, the province's monthly renewable energy generation reached 10.457 billion kWh—an 8.91% increase year-on-year—accounting for 39% of the province's total power generation. Meanwhile, outbound transmission to other regions totaled 10.29 billion kWh. This marks the first time Gansu has seen both monthly renewable generation and outbound transmission surpass the 10-billion-kWh threshold.
A Robust Power Grid Safeguards Clean Energy Transmission

The continuous rise in renewable energy generation and provincial electricity load has placed higher requirements on the power grid's precision dispatching capabilities. Gansu's power dispatch authorities have innovated a model that "stores green power at midday to bridge gaps during the evening peak," maximizing energy resource utilization and enhancing the efficiency of renewable energy. In July, the province's energy storage charging and discharging volume exceeded 900 million kWh, boosting the renewable energy utilization rate by 4 percentage points and effectively addressing the mismatch between renewable energy generation and users' electricity consumption during peak and off-peak periods.
Amid the extreme summer heat, electricity demand has surged. In July, the province's peak load reached 24.67 million kW, up 15% year-on-year. This, coupled with the inherent volatility of high renewable energy output, has intensified pressure on grid supply and heightened dispatch complexity. The Power Dispatch Center of State Grid Gansu Electric Power Company proactively analyzed renewable energy output trends and optimized thermal power scheduling to create sufficient capacity for renewable energy integration. By forecasting changes in provincial load, refining the dynamic power balance, and coordinating flexible resources—including energy storage, thermal power, and hydropower—the center precisely aligned generation with demand curves. These efforts efficiently managed the surge in demand caused by high temperatures, ensuring the safe, stable operation of the power grid and a reliable electricity supply.
