Jiaozuo, Henan: Reliable Power Supports Stable Orchard Yields and Higher Incomes

On August 14, staff members from the Shennongshan Central Power Supply Station of State Grid Jiaozuo Power Supply Company visited the 10,000-mu orchard in Ziling Town, Jiaozuo City, Henan Province, to inspect power lines.

“The fruit trees are growing well this year. The yield of Hongxiangsu pears is nearly 3,000 kilograms per mu, and we can sell more than 1,500 kilograms a day!” said Ren Xiaoqin, a Hongxiangsu pear grower, with a smile as she tallied the returns from the harvest.

Drawing on its mountainous terrain and natural resources, Ziling Town has developed a specialty fruit industry and has long cultivated more than 10 types of fruit, including pears, grapes and peaches.

Every step—from pumping water for irrigation and preserving fruit in cold storage to sorting and packaging—depends on a reliable power supply. To meet local orchards’ electricity needs, State Grid Jiaozuo Power Supply Company proactively coordinates with fruit growers and has staff regularly inspect and maintain power lines, transformers and irrigation equipment in the orchards. Taking into account power-use patterns throughout the fruit-growing cycle, the company has increased the frequency of inspections of transmission lines serving agricultural production to ensure reliable electricity during critical periods.

At the site, while checking equipment for potential hazards, staff members also distributed electrical safety leaflets and explained safe electricity-use practices to fruit growers. In addition, the company has established a one-on-one account manager system and actively promotes the State Grid Online app. It also operates a service model that allows fruit growers to scan a QR code to submit repair requests online and receive same-day service, enabling rapid responses to their electricity service requests.

Going forward, State Grid Jiaozuo Power Supply Company will continue to focus on the needs of the agricultural sector by conducting regular field inspections and providing additional support services. It will deliver higher-quality and more efficient power services to support high yields and successful harvests in orchards and provide reliable power support for the development of specialty rural industries.
