XJTU Second Affiliated Hospital Sends Medical Delegation to Uzbekistan for Cancer Screenings, Free Clinics for Chronic Diseases, and Multidisciplinary Medical Exchange

From July 26 to August 2, at the invitation of the Uzbek side, a 20-member medical delegation from the Second Affiliated Hospital of Xi'an Jiaotong University (XJTU) visited Uzbekistan. Led by Party Secretary Prof. Liu Chang and President Prof. Zhang Pengbo, the team—comprising specialists in obstetrics and gynecology, breast surgery, nephrology, Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), oncology, pathology, and ultrasound—traveled to the cities of Bukhara, Urgench, and Khiva. There, they conducted breast and cervical cancer screenings, provided free clinics for chronic conditions, and engaged in exchanges on multidisciplinary diagnosis and treatment.

Prof. Shan Zhiwei, Vice President and a member of the Standing Committee of the XJTU Party Committee, extended his warm congratulations on the launch of the cancer screening program in Bukhara, Urgench, and Khiva in a congratulatory letter and video address. He also paid tribute to the experts for their dedication to providing screenings and free medical consultations and conducting exchanges on multidisciplinary diagnosis and treatment.

On July 27 (local time), Liu Chang led the delegation to the Bukhara State Medical Institute (BSMI). During the visit, BSMI Rector Shukhrat Teshaev and Prof. Liu Chang jointly cut the ribbon and unveiled the plaque for the Interventional Nephrology Training Center, a collaborative project between the two institutions.

Remarks by Prof. Zhang Pengbo

On July 31 (local time), Zhang Pengbo led the delegation to Mamun University. He and Arslon Nurjonov, Chairman and Rector of the university, jointly cut the ribbon for the "XJTU Second Affiliated Hospital–Mamun University Friendship Exhibition Room and Medical Education Classroom." Before the ceremony, Nurjonov and Zhang Pengbo held a meeting to discuss potential future collaborations focusing on endemic diseases, women's health, and childhood developmental disorders in the Khorezm Region.
