Kaifeng, Henan: Autumn Inspections Ensure Safe Power Use During Harvest Season

“Electricity demand is high during the autumn harvest, making power lines and equipment more prone to faults. By eliminating potential hazards in advance, we can give everyone greater peace of mind when using electricity!” On September 17, employees of the Western District Power Supply Center of State Grid Kaifeng Power Supply Company visited Shuidao Township. As they inspected nearby power facilities, they explained safety precautions for electricity use in autumn to local farmers, helping ensure safe power use during the autumn harvest through proactive services.

In autumn, electricity demand for farmland irrigation and drainage, grain processing and residents’ daily needs continues to rise. With the arrival of autumn, power grid equipment enters a seasonal transition period, while risks associated with encroaching trees, aging equipment, load fluctuations and improper agricultural electricity use also increase. To strengthen the safety of electricity use in autumn, support autumn harvesting and ensure a reliable power supply for local residents, employees of State Grid Kaifeng Power Supply Company proactively visited villages, residential compounds and fields to conduct line inspections, hazard rectification, household visits, safety awareness campaigns and other power supply support services.

Inspection personnel focused on removing overgrown branches and weeds from power line corridors and carefully checking for minor defects such as aging lines, damaged insulation and loose components. They closely monitored aging distribution transformer service areas and densely populated residential areas, tracking equipment load changes in real time and assessing risks in advance. Identified hazards were managed through a closed-loop process to ensure stable grid operation during the seasonal transition.

Employees also visited villages to distribute electricity service cards to individual households and posted contact numbers for local grid-based service teams on village notice boards and in residential hallways, providing residents with accessible channels for reporting faults and making inquiries.
