Henan Zhengzhou: Special Power Supply Assurance Action Safeguards Stable and Safe Power Supply at Airport

As the National Day holiday approaches, Zhengzhou Xinzheng International Airport is set to see a travel rush. On September 28, staff from State Grid Zhengzhou Power Supply Company visited Zhengzhou Xinzheng International Airport to assist the airport in inspecting key facilities, including switchgear and transformers in the internal substation, one by one. With a “zero-hidden-hazard” standard, they strengthened the power supply safety defenses to ensure safe and smooth travel for passengers.

Zhengzhou Xinzheng International Airport has now joined the global “Million-Ton Club” for air freight. During the National Day holiday, the airport will see a sharp rise in passenger throughput, as well as cargo and mail throughput, causing a substantial increase in its power load.

To meet this power supply challenge, State Grid Zhengzhou Power Supply Company launched a special holiday power supply assurance action and set up a dedicated power supply assurance team. The team carried out special inspections, maintenance and defect rectification on external power supply routes such as the airport’s upstream power sources and transmission cables. To date, it has completed four rounds of special inspections, covering 4.05 kilometers of power lines, and rectified three defects. Jointly with the airport’s electric power staff, the team conducted internal inspections and went deep into the airport’s internal substation. It used infrared thermal imagers to accurately measure the temperature of main transformers and ultrasonic equipment to detect partial discharges in 110 kV GIS equipment. These measures aim to identify risks at an early stage, eliminate defects promptly and ensure zero equipment defects.

Staff from State Grid Zhengzhou Power Supply Company also took the initiative to check for electrical safety hazards in key areas, including terminal halls, boarding gates and check-in counters. State Grid Zhengzhou Power Supply Company and the airport maintain a 24-hour joint duty system, strengthen emergency response plans, and keep emergency repair teams and equipment on standby at all times to ensure stable and reliable power supply for the airport.

Going forward, State Grid Zhengzhou Power Supply Company will continue to work closely with Zhengzhou Xinzheng International Airport to help keep the “Air Silk Road” running smoothly, providing strong power support for the high-quality development of the Central Plains transportation hub.
