World tourism has taken an unprecedented hit from COVID-19. As the influence of the outbreak reduces gradually, the industry urgently needs to rebuild its confidence, reach a consensus and act in accordance to revive global tourism. Under such circumstances, the World Conference on Tourism Cooperation and Development held during the China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS) in September, 2020 expressed hopes for world tourism. It will release a guideline on rebuilding world tourism for prosperity and a report on the studies conducted on countermeasures that should be considered for global safety.
The World Conference on Tourism Cooperation and Development will be held by the World Tourism Cities Federation (WTCF). In the context of the pandemic, it is a significant conference held during the crucial moment of the revival of world tourism. The Action Plan on the Recovery and Revitalization of City Tourism amid COVID-19 and the Report on World Tourism Recovery and Development amid COVID-19 will be presented, aiming to explore the innovative mode of urban tourism recovery and revitalization under the impact of COVID-19. It’ll also address the strategic and trend analyses for global urban tourism recovery, promote the restoration and development of the sector, and jointly create a new situation for its resuscitation worldwide.
WTCF is the world’s first international tourism organization focusing on cities under the initiative of Beijing. Currently, its 223 members cover 75 countries and regions across the world. It is regarded as the world’s fastest-growing international tourism organization. Guided by the action plan and intellectually supported by the report, the international organization WTCF will leverage its role as a global platform to promote multilateral communication and cooperation, advocate recovering exchanges among member cities, advance the coordinated development of urban economy and society, and revive world tourism with member units jointly in the present context.
