Press Conference on Tourism Services of the China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS) 2020 was held on August 18th. Leaders included Wang Yue, Deputy Director of Beijing Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism, and Li Baochun, Executive Deputy Secretary-General of the World Tourism Cities Federation (WTCF) attended the conference.
Wang Yue indicated that a themed exhibition on the upcoming plans of the CIFTIS is to be hosted in the venue on the ground floor of China National Convention Center in early September. As one of the eight programs in the CIFTIS, the program of tourism services will be sponsored by Beijing Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism. Its theme lies in “Tourism: Connecting the Whole World, Creating a Better Life”. The program aims to build a platform for trading services and advertisement of products, functioning as a bridge to help people around the world to communicate and share their interests.
It is said that the themed exhibition on tourism services covering 10,000 m2 will be divided among three buildings, the Beijing, Domestic, and International Venues. At present, more than 700 organizations, tourism companies and buyers from over 40 countries and regions will participate in the event.
Two significant forums will be held in the program, including the main forum “World Conference on Tourism Cooperation and Development” and the sub-forum “International Health & Tourism Forum”. The main forum will be sponsored by the WTCF, focusing on “Rebuilding World Tourism for Prosperity”. The forum is a crucial conference conducted in the critical moment for reviving the world tourism during the pandemic. It is one of the 4 key meetings among the 153 conferences and forums in the 12 fields of services, and the only conference held by an International organization during the CIFTIS.
Li Baochun pointed out that WTCF will set up informative stands on the first floor of the China National Convention Center during the CIFTIS. Their content will focus on the history, significant events and findings of the WTCF; display and advertise quality local resources of its member cities, and help those cities to share their resources while drawing on each other's strengths. It will also show the organization's achievements in promoting exchanges among tourism cities and the cooperation of members, fostering the development of investment and finance, creating opportunities for win-win cooperation, advancing the establishment of a community with a shared future for mankind through “tourism”, and build a vital platform in Beijing for China’s communication with the rest of the world.
World Tourism Cities Federation (WTCF), voluntarily formed by famous tourism cities and relative institutions in the world under the initiative of Beijing, is the world's first international tourism organization focusing on cities. Guided by the core vision of Better City Life through Tourism, WTCF constructs a platform for its members to exchange experience, reinforce cooperation and build consensus. WTCF hopes to share professionals' opinions through this conference to provide intellectual support for the revitalization of tourism in its 223 members from 75 countries and regions after the pandemic. Moreover, strength can be assembled and confidence can be shored up so global tourism will continue to prosper.
