During the 1st Anniversary of the Establishment of the Giant Panda National Park, More than 60,000 Mu of Habitat Restored in the Chengdu Area

On October 12, 2021, the Giant Panda National Park spanning the three provinces of Sichuan, Shaanxi and Gansu was officially established. October 12, 2022 marks the first anniversary of the establishment of the Giant Panda National Park. Over the past year, the Chengdu Administration of Giant Panda National Park has restored the giant panda habitat and established a giant panda DNA database by means of standardized management and protection station construction, regular patrol and protection, information construction and so on.

The Chengdu area of Giant Panda National Park, located in the northwest of Chengdu Plain, involves 4 counties (cities) of Dujiangyan City, Pengzhou City, Chongzhou City and Dayi County, covering an area of 1,459.48 square kilometers, almost in the middle of the Giant Panda National Park. The protected area is 1,145.01 square kilometers, which is a key area for the migration and reproduction of rare wild animal populations represented by giant pandas.

With the official establishment of the Giant Panda National Park, Chengdu has pushed the construction of the Chengdu area of the Giant Panda National Park into a new stage. 60,070 mu will be restored, and it is estimated that 300,000 mu of giant panda habitat will be restored by 2025.
