Sichuan Received Over 40 Million Tourists During the May Day Holiday

On May 4th, according to the Sichuan Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, based on third-party big data comprehensive calculations, during the May Day holiday, Sichuan Province received 40.1834 million tourists and achieved a tourism revenue of 20.123 billion CNY, with year-on-year growth of 104.6% and 46.6%, respectively. According to comparable standards, it has increased by 27.3% and 22.2% respectively compared to the same period in 2019, surpassing the national average growth rate by 8.21 percentage points and 22 percentage points respectively.

According to the monitoring of the China Tourism Research Institute (Data Center of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the People’s Republic of China), Sichuan ranks fourth in terms of tourist reception in China, while Chengdu ranks first in terms of tourist reception in sub-provincial-level and below cities.

Among them, 829 A-level scenic spots included in the statistics received 24.3884 million tourists and achieved ticket revenue of 286 million CNY. According to comparable standards, they increased by 69.9% and 125.4% respectively compared to 2022 and by 28.9% and 23.1% respectively compared to 2019. Public libraries, cultural centers, and museums throughout the province have received 2.0779 million people.
