These characteristics change insects from a species to a resource and provide the possibility for humans to cultivate and utilize them as medicine, ornamentation, food and so on.

Insects are tiny but they contain huge values. Insect resources need to be developed and utilized urgently, and the applied research of the global insect industry is in a continuous growth trend. In China, the scale of biopharmaceuticals has reached CNY 200 billion.

At present, China has not yet formed a complete insect industry chain. Facing the unprecedented opportunities, Jingmen City, Hubei Province has seized the momentum of the insect industry and built an insect ecological industrial park relying on the Jingchu Science and Technology Innovation City. It takes production, teaching, research, learning, and tourism as directions of the industrial development. Jingmen will also integrate and develop the health care industry, biomedical industry, environmental protection industry, education industry, cultural and creative industries, with the focus on 21 directly related industries such as industrial applications, scientific research and education, insect technology, insect culture, and insect tourism. In this way, the entire insect industrial chain and ecological chain will be connected, so as to promote the new development of the insect industry.
