On December 25, at a temporary power connection site for a user on the 10kV Baihai Line near Pole 11 in Huai'an City, a striking sign on the insulated bucket of a live-line working vehicle read, “This vehicle is equipped with an AED in the cab.”
AED signs stand out at the worksite.
An AED, or Automated External Defibrillator, is a crucial device that can provide timely and effective resuscitation for cardiac arrest patients during emergencies, significantly improving their survival rate. On the power engineering vehicle, the AED is conveniently placed right above the driver's seat, making it easily accessible. This marks the first attempt by the State Grid Huai'an Power Supply Company to install AEDs on engineering vehicles.
Since 2024, to accelerate the construction of its emergency management system, the company has continuously enhanced its emergency supplies, equipment, and teams. Leveraging the extensive reach and mobility of engineering vehicles, it has installed AEDs on two live-line working vehicles, transforming them into mobile “life-saving stations.” These vehicles not only safeguard the company's employees but are also available for public use.
In addition, the company has partnered with local organizations, such as the Red Cross Society, to provide standardized training in CPR and AED use for vehicle drivers and frontline power workers. So far, 32 individuals have completed the training and obtained first aid certifications.
