"Lankao honeydew melons have been certified as a national agricultural product with geographical indication, creating jobs for more than 7,000 locals. None of this would have been possible without reliable power support," said the head of a honeydew melon planting base in Lankao County, Kaifeng City, Henan Province, during a recent visit by staff from the State Grid Kaifeng Power Supply Company.

The soil of the Yellow River's old course is highly suitable for cultivating honeydew melons. In 2017, Beijing Xinfadi Agricultural Products Co., Ltd. established a planting base in Lankao, introducing new melon varieties and achieving two harvests a year. The planting area has since expanded from 1,000 mu to 30,000 mu, opening up a new path to prosperity for local residents.
To support the growth of the industry, State Grid Kaifeng Power Supply Company has organized regular visits to the planting base, assessing power demand and inspecting facilities such as transformers and distribution cabinets. Staff have helped replace damaged or aging wires, isolators, and switches, eliminating potential safety hazards and resolving electricity-related difficulties. With strong and stable power supply services, the company is providing a strong guarantee for the thriving development of Lankao's honeydew melon industry.
