Zhejiang Launches First “International Commercial Mediation Promotion Month”

The “International Commercial Mediation Promotion Month” officially launched in Hangzhou on May 8, jointly organized by the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Zhejiang Provincial Committee (CCPIT Zhejiang), Zhejiang Provincial Department of Justice, and Zhejiang Provincial High People’s Court. The event was held under the theme “Commercial Mediation: Safeguarding Enterprises’ Global Expansion.”

The hybrid event brought together over 200 participants, including representatives from CCPIT, the provincial judicial and court systems, international commercial legal experts, mediators, and globally oriented enterprises. Nearly 30,000 people attended online.

The ceremony featured the signing of a Cross-border Commercial Mediation Cooperation Agreement between the Zhejiang International Chamber of Commerce and the Hong Kong International Mediation Centre, as well as a Notarization-supported International Commercial Mediation Cooperation Agreement between the Zhejiang Commercial Legal Service Center and the Zhejiang Notaries Association. Mediation institutions from Shanghai, Jiangsu, Anhui, and Jiangxi also joined the International Commercial Mediation Cloud Platform.

Participants jointly issued the “Mediation First” initiative and inaugurated the International Commercial Mediation Talent Training Base. The “Top 20 Notable International Commercial Mediation Cases in Zhejiang” were also announced.

Luo Weixiong, Chairman of the Hong Kong International Mediation Centre, and Lu Haisheng from Hangzhou Customs delivered insights into techniques and strategies for international commercial mediation.

The month-long campaign will feature over 20 themed events across all 11 prefecture-level cities in Zhejiang, highlighting the benefits of international commercial mediation. Zhejiang aims to leverage mediation services to promote global economic cooperation and support enterprises in navigating the evolving global economy.
