With the peach harvest now in full swing and demand for cold storage increasing, State Grid Sanmenxia Power Supply Company has taken proactive measures to ensure a reliable power supply across the entire “from branch to storage” chain. On August 13, the company dispatched teams to orchards and cold chain facilities in Cizhong Township to carry out specialized electrical inspections, strengthening the power foundation for the region’s distinctive “sweet industry.”
At the farms, staff focused on inspecting electrical lines for irrigation pumps, conveyor systems, and temporary lighting. Considering the simultaneous start-up of multiple devices during the harvest, they carefully checked the sensitivity of Residual Current Devices (RCDs) and the tightness of switch connections, while also educating farmers on safe electricity practices. Concurrently, the teams conducted comprehensive “health checks” on refrigeration units, temperature control systems, and distribution panels at four cold storage facilities, precisely measuring operating currents and circuit loads. Two potential hazards were identified and resolved, including an aging refrigeration contactor and an overloaded circuit.
Given that cold storage facilities operate under high load 24/7, staff provided on-site guidance on shifting electricity usage to off-peak hours. They also recommended upgrading to variable frequency drives (VFDs), which is expected to reduce energy consumption by about 15%. Additionally, they demonstrated the load analysis feature of the “Online State Grid” app, helping users optimize electricity usage.
Moving forward, State Grid Sanmenxia Power Supply Company will continue to improve its services and conduct regular maintenance of power equipment, providing high-quality, reliable power support for the local fruit industry. These efforts contribute to rural revitalization and inject strong momentum into the development of Sanmenxia’s specialty fruit industry.
