State Grid Zhangye Power Supply Company: Building a "Power Sky Road" Across the Gobi Desert

Recently, at the construction site of the 750-kilovolt transmission line project for Zhangye Power Plant in Zhangye City, Gansu Province, construction workers from State Grid Zhangye Power Supply Company have been racing against time to string conductors, accelerating project progress to ensure completion and commissioning on schedule.

According to reports, the 750-kilovolt transmission project at Zhangye Power Plant is a key project under Gansu Province's 14th Five-Year Plan for power grid development and a major initiative to optimize the province's energy structure and strengthen regional energy security capabilities. Once completed, the project will significantly enhance the transmission capacity and safety-stability of the Hexi power grid, providing strong support for the construction of Gansu's integrated "wind-solar-thermal-storage" energy base and the delivery of clean energy to external regions.

State Grid Zhangye Power Supply Company has meticulously organized the project and scientifically formulated construction plans, adopting the advanced "one-pull-six" tension stringing technique. This method utilizes a high-precision tension control system to simultaneously pull and string six conductors, which not only significantly improves construction efficiency but also effectively prevents conductors from suffering abrasion, twisting, or other damage during installation, ensuring their mechanical strength and electrical performance meet design standards. The project reportedly has a total investment of RMB 350 million, requiring the construction of 169 new transmission towers and spanning a total line length of 80.51 kilometers. The transmission line must cross major transportation arteries multiple times, including the Zhangping Class I Highway, placing extremely high demands on construction safety and technical precision.

The smooth progress of the 750-kilovolt transmission project at Zhangye Power Plant will not only inject strong electrical momentum into regional economic and social development but also provide crucial support for Gansu in building a new power system and achieving green energy transformation. As sections of silver conductors extend across the Gobi Desert sky, a magnificent vision of "West-to-East power transmission and energy interconnection" is gradually unfolding, contributing Gansu's strength to lighting up thousands of homes and serving China's modernization drive.
