Huangge Town, with a history spanning nearly 800 years, is renowned as the hometown of Kylin. Its Kylin dance was recognized as a provincial intangible cultural heritage in 2006. The performance artistically depicts the Kylin's daily activities using sequences like departing the cave, circling the head, and swinging the tail, all set to the rhythm of gongs, drums, and wind instruments. This dance exudes a festive atmosphere and showcases the unique charm of Lingnan, reflecting people's prayers for prosperity and good fortune.
The opening ceremony will seamlessly integrate traditional intangible heritage with contemporary artistry, merging Lingnan cultural elements with innovative technology. In addition to the Kylin dance, warm-up performances will feature other intangible cultural heritage items like lion dance and Yingge dance. Most acts are jointly presented by Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao, featuring professional artists, university students, and others. This creative blend of Lingnan culture and modern technology aims to highlight the beauty of the Greater Bay Area through stage artistry.
This showcase not only highlights Nansha's profound cultural heritage but also demonstrates the vibrant vitality of intangible cultural heritage through innovative expressions.
