The 9th Sino–Germany Automotive Conference Opens in Changchun

On November 12, the 9th Sino–Germany Automotive Conference opened in Changchun, in northeast China’s Jilin Province, under the theme “Forging a New Ecosystem for China–Germany Automotive Industry Cooperation.” More than 400 representatives attended the event.

As part of the “Invest in China” series, the conference focuses on the automotive industry’s transition toward electrification, intelligence and connectivity, providing a valuable platform for Chinese and German enterprises to enhance communication, better understand emerging trends and jointly explore the future of the industry.Chen Jian, former Vice Minister of Commerce, stated in his speech that China has made remarkable progress in battery technology, innovative solutions and intelligent supply chains, while Germany holds distinct advantages in brand influence, manufacturing craftsmanship and market experience. Through deeper cooperation, the two countries’ automotive sectors are fully capable of steering the global industry toward greater precision, intelligence, safety and efficiency, enhancing mobility for consumers worldwide and contributing industrial strength to building a community with a shared future for mankind.

The automobile industry is a pillar industry in Jilin’s economy, and the province has made its cooperation with Volkswagen the “No. 1 Project” for strengthening its real economy. Recently, the 30-millionth FAW–Volkswagen vehicle rolled off the assembly line in Changchun, marking a significant milestone in the coordinated development of the Chinese and German automotive industries.“Changchun is known as the cradle of China’s automobile industry. Over the past 35 years, the German automotive sector has taken root here through FAW–Volkswagen, and many major German auto parts suppliers have since followed,” said Annette Sévery, Consul General of Germany in Shenyang. She added that hosting this conference in Changchun provides an excellent platform for Chinese and German companies to strengthen professional exchanges, jointly address future challenges and explore deeper cooperation.
