Recently, the No. 2 Main Transformer at the Honggang 110 kV Substation in Ezhou City was energized successfully. This substation, which has continuously supplied power to the city for eighteen years, has been revitalized through this renovation and capacity expansion. It will provide more stable and reliable power support for the southern area of Ezhou to meet peak demand this winter.

Since it began operation in 2007, the Honggang Substation has borne the responsibility of supplying power to the southern urban area of Ezhou. In 2022, the maximum load rate reached 76.7%, and the maximum load is projected to exceed 38.2 MW by 2025. The need to enhance power supply capacity has become increasingly urgent, placing higher requirements on power supply reliability.
This expansion project focused on a “power supply capacity upgrade.” It involved adding one 50 MVA main transformer, extending one incoming bay for the main transformer, and adding 20 units of 10 kV switchgear. These measures have comprehensively improved the substation’s overall power supply capacity and optimized its supporting facilities.

An on-site team of 12 key technical personnel was formed. Based on strict safety and technical briefings, and through coordinated collaboration among design, construction, material supply, operation and maintenance, and dispatch departments, they ensured the project was commissioned with zero defects.

Once the project is fully put into operation, the power supply capacity of Honggang Substation will see a qualitative improvement. It will meet the growing electricity needs of nearly 7,000 enterprises and 50,000 households in the southern urban area, significantly optimize the regional power grid structure, and provide reliable power assurance for public livelihood and industrial development.
