Recently, State Grid Hubei Information & Telecommunications Company, together with Xiangyang Power Supply Company and State Grid Hubei Power Transmission and Transformation Company, conducted a special emergency communications drill for the winter peak season in 2025. The exercise directly addressed severe challenges such as communication interruptions and “information islands” caused by rain, snow, and freezing weather, serving as a genuine test of the province-wide electric power emergency communications system’s rapid response and collaborative handling capabilities.

During the drill, all units responded immediately to orders, rapidly assembling emergency forces and carrying critical equipment such as satellite communications, MESH ad-hoc networks, drones, and integrated converged communication units. Within 30 minutes, they arrived at the designated sites near Tower No. 046 of the Xiangyang 220 kV Miwei Line and Tower No. 3 of the Huanggang 500 kV Dadao Line 1 and Line 2 to commence operations.
In the complex field environment, the teams quickly completed equipment deployment and signal testing, establishing voice communication with the command center within 5 minutes and completing the transmission of high-definition video within 15 minutes. The entire process featured rapid response, standardized operations, and efficient collaboration, fully verifying the reliability of critical equipment such as satellite communications and MESH ad-hoc networks in complex environments and demonstrating the emergency teams’ practical capability to “act immediately upon orders and collaborate efficiently.”
