At the Zhangye 330 kV substation of State Grid Gansu Electric Power Company, a 5G intelligent inspection robot worked with operation and maintenance personnel to conduct a comprehensive inspection of substation equipment on December 10.

Facing the dual challenges of low temperatures and peak demand this winter, the company has enhanced its three-tiered inspection system, combining intelligent robot autonomous inspection, remote intelligent diagnosis, and precise manual review. In extreme cold conditions, robots utilize the high bandwidth and low latency of 5G networks to independently perform tasks such as infrared temperature measurement and image capture, and transmit high-definition data back to the monitoring platform in real time and with stability.
Operation and maintenance personnel can remotely monitor the overall status of equipment through an intelligent control platform. Once the system automatically detects anomalies, it promptly issues alerts and generates diagnostic recommendations, establishing a standardized closed-loop process of early warning, review, and resolution. This model significantly improves defect response and handling efficiency, effectively reduces outdoor operation risks, lowers labor intensity, and increases overall inspection efficiency by approximately 60 percent. With defect identification accuracy maintained above 95 percent, it advances operation and maintenance into a mature stage of intelligent monitoring and precision maintenance.
