On March 7, the 2026 Yangtze River Delta Equestrian League (Tonglu) officially kicked off at the Hangzhou Equestrian Center. As the first major equestrian event held in the Yangtze River Delta region since the start of the Year of the Horse, the League brought together over 100 horses and more than 200 horse-and-rider combinations. Held at an Asian Games-standard venue, it also marked the exciting start for the new year's equestrian competitions.

It is reported that the League will also feature show jumping events at multiple levels, including 1.00m and 1.20m classes, as well as the highly anticipated 1.40m Grand Prix. Open to the public free of charge, the League gives citizens and tourists a chance to experience the thrill of equestrian sports up close at the Hangzhou Equestrian Center while enjoying Tonglu's unique spring scenery.

Upcoming events at the Hangzhou Equestrian Center include the Zhejiang Youth Equestrian Championship from March 20 to 22 and the Fourth Hangzhou (Tonglu) International Equestrian Open from March 27 to 29. With a series of high-level events taking place, Tonglu is making full use of its Asian Games venue to promote the integration of equestrian sports and cultural tourism, and to gradually make equestrianism a key showcase of the city's vitality and a driving force for the development of its sports industry.
